About Me
Thanks for visiting my page! My name is Joseph (online as jofish), I'm an 18 year old computer science student, ametuer game developer, game collector, CRT fan, and general tech enthusiast. I've been using computers and the internet pretty much since I was born, whether that's a good thing or not (probably not), so it's always been a part of my life. Despite the windows-look of the website, I primarily use Linux lol!
Saying I'm a game collector is a bit of an understatement. Game hoarder may be more accurate -- I probably have somewhere close to 5 or 6k physical games, maybe even more. I would count them all but that would involve unpacking and repacking them, and I do NOT want to do that! Almost every weekend I try to go to yard sales and flea markets to grow the collection. My collection is almost entirely paid for by reselling games I don't want or already have. There was a period I did pretty well selling at sidewalk sales and conventions but now that I'm in college it's hard to participate in those and I'm kind of tapped out of the whole retro game market scene now. I'm kind of a tech hoarder of all kinds, honestly. I have a bunch of old cool tech, laptops, computers, etc, maybe someday I'll show some of it off on the blog.
My game development journey started pretty early on as well, downloading Unity 4 when I was probably about 6 years old. I only ever really used the pre-made scripts and character controllers it gave you, but I loved it. One of these days I have to dig up that old drive and give a couple of those "games" a whirl again. Most of the games I made when I was younger are on scratch, those will NOT be shared! Nowadays I try to stick with Godot and Unreal after Unity's pricing controversey a couple years ago. My favorite way to develop games is in crappy engines with lots of limitations (Greenfoot is my absolute favorite, it's such a gem!)
About This Site
This site is a complete remake and overhaul of my old site. This one is aero-themed, obviously, as oposed to the more early 2000s "look" of the old one. This site houses my projects, blog, socials, and other additions I just think are cool. It primarily uses 7.css for it's decorations -- It's a wonderful library!
